We moved into our first home back in 2017 and a few months later, a cat showed up on our patio. I’ve always been a sucker for feeding strays and it ended up with her just never leaving. We decided to officially name her Betsy and adopt her. In reality, she really adopted us.
We had other cats and she never really liked being inside with them, so she loved staying on our patio. We ended up building her her own little house and she was always such a happy girl. She loved belly rubs and sunbathing and never strayed too far from the house. She enjoyed head pats and sleeping next to me when she decided she wanted to be in the house at night. She was the kind of cat who made the rules and we had to follow them.
We ended up moving to our current home in the quad cities and brought her with us. (She still always preferred being outside) Our neighbors adored her and always looked out for her and never minded her lounging in their flowerbeds.
Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with cardiac issues which then ended up turning into Congestive Heart Failure which progressed quicker than anyone expected. She passed away on 10/20/2022 at around 1:50pm.
She was older when she adopted us and we were happy she chose us to be her family for the last few years of her life.
We already miss you so much, Betsy.
